Skeletal Wings
February 1, 2021skeletal wings
stubbornly flutter.
her mink fur drags on.
a gold antique lighter
kisses the cigarette
imbued with her essence.
she reaches the zenith of eternal rapture.
adrift, I await her celestial body.
my moon,
I rise with the tide.
as wave upon wave crash,
we’ll never see the shore.
my sun,
my everlasting sun.
engulfed in flames,
I soar,
while ashes remain
shortly before the fall,
of Icarus.
for like he,
I flew too close,
and drowned for her love
